Nigeria: N2bn Campaign Fund: 'Obasanjo Ready for Probe'

Abuja — The Obasanjo/Atiku Campaign Organisation has said that there is nothing unconstitutional about the recent fund raising dinner in support of President Olusegun Obasanjo's re-election at which over N2 billion was realised. It challenged its critics to commence a probe of the event, saying the public officers who made donations did so in their private capacities.

Speaking with reporters yesterday in Abuja, director of Media and Publicity of the organisation, Mr. Akin Oshuntokun, said there was nothing unusual about governors of the 21 states controlled by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) each donating N10 million, each of the ministers N100,000 and another N100,000 from each of the 50 "solvent" parastatals.
