Maputo — The Paris-based press freedom body
Reporters sans Frontiers (RSF - Reporters without Borders) has
welcomed the long prison sentences given by the Maputo City Court
last Friday to the six men found guilty of murdering Mozambique's
top investigative journalist, Carlos Cardoso.
"This case demonstrates that impunity is not something
inevitable in Africa", declared RSF general secretary Robert
Menard. "It is a question that depends on political will and on
the independence of the judiciary".
