Kampala — UPCOUNTRY students wishing to join Kampala International University (KIU) no longer have to travel to the city to obtain application forms.
Posta Uganda has entered into partnership with the university to sell its application forms and other KIU promotional materials through its countrywide network.
An agreement was signed on Friday between Posta Uganda's general manager in charge of sales and marketing, Allan Were and the KIU's deputy vice chancellor, Prof. Mohamed Ndaula at a short ceremony at the Kampala Regency Hotel.
"We have chosen Posta Uganda because they are credible, honest and traditional. We are on a very good start. Soon we'll work on money transfer service as well," Ndaula said.
Under the deal, university literature, such as application forms, prospectus, brochures as well as fees structures, will be distributed through Posta Uganda branches.
Ndaula said application forms would cost sh10,000, including postage fees and processing of admission. Reply will be made in two weeks, he added.
Students without post boxes will also be allowed to collect their correspondences with the university at Posta Uganda offices where they first posted their application forms.
KIU spokesman, Winston Mwine, said the university had entered into similar alliances in other countries, including Rwanda and Kenya, while strategies are being worked for Tanzania and Zambia.
KIU has a student population of about 5,000.
