Uige — At least 150 children under 10 years of age died from January to March this year at Sacandica commune, in Maquela do Zombo municipality located in Angola's northern Uige province, all victims of measles.
Uige's public health official Mr Carlos Alberto de Sousa told Angop Wednesday that the situation is worsened due to lack of medical and medication aid.
Maquela do Zombo region, with a population estimated at 304 000 inhabitants, has only a municipal hospital and three medical posts.
To overcome the situation, the local health management has sent to that region a technical team, made up of 30 supervisors for vaccination campaign gainst measles
