PAUL Matavire has recorded his 13th album which is expected to hit the streets on 30 May.

Entitled Zimbe Remoto, the album was recorded in Johannesburg, South Africa, with the assistance of music gurus Freddie Gwala and Platform One.

Zimbe Remoto has two gospel tracks, Thabath' Isiphambano and Khotsi Yanga.

Matavire shot to fame in the early 1980s after he recorded the song Pamberi navaJiri, a tribute to the late philanthropist Jairos Jiri.

He followed up that with chart-busters Christmas Yatosvika, Chipuka Ndipe Mwenje and Dhindindi Full-Time.

On why he had decided to record his music out of the country, Matavire quipped: "Variety is the spice of life."

The visually impaired musician, who was in the company of his manager Albert Ncube, said he had gone into semi-retirement in order to attend to his hundreds of cattle and goats.

"I need to dose and dip my livestock and that is why I spend most of my time in Mwenezi where I can ensure that my livestock is well looked after."

The cassette will be marketed and distributed by Corner Studios.

The director of Corner Studios, Macrain Chaswa-ra, said they intended to professionally market the album, which would see Matavire claiming his position as one of the most popular musicians in the country.

Matavire's manager said joint-shows with Freddie Gwala, Platform One and a host of other South African musicians had been lined up for August in Zimbabwe and South Africa to promote the album.
