Zambia: University Teaching Hospital Men's Ward Needs Blankets

MINISTER of Health Brian Chituwo is doing very well with the former first Republican president Kenneth Kaunda regarding the HIV/AIDS public awareness campaign.

But Dr Chituwo has neglected his "own house", the University Teaching Hospital men's ward which lacks blankets. Let the minister visit the ward and see for himself how patients in this ward endure the cold.

Furthermore the institution is encouraging patients to use their own blankets, from their homes. What about those who don't have, especially the vulnerable?

This is a public institution, it's better to buy more blankets for all the patients in the ward instead of them bringing their own blankets.

Our appeal as the Federation of Human Rights and Liberties is that all patients should have decent and warm blankets to cover themselves so that they do not die of the cold.
