Nigeria: Ajudua Battles to Stop Witnesses As Lawyer Threatens to Withdraw

Lagos — ATTEMPTS by the prosecution to ensure that two of its Briton witnesses scheduled to give evidence on how a Lagos-based businessman, Fred Ajudua allegedly swindled in 1999 a German a whopping sum of %18 million U.S. dollars yesterday set both the accused person (Ajudua) and the trial judge in the matter on a collision course. They almost exchanged words.

While Ajudua wanted the Britons to give their evidence in two months' time to enable him have a pre-trial conference with his attorney, Mr. Wale Adesokan, the trial judge, Justice Joseph Oyewole upheld the submissions of the prosecution that there was no need for the adjournment.
