South Africa: Labeling On Energy Products Under Discussion

Pretoria — The National Energy Efficiency week entered its final day today with officials from minerals and energy department discussing the labeling of electronic products to encourage communities to save energy.

Minerals and energy minister Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka said this week that officials from her department would meet to consider introducing laws to compel manufacturers of electrical products such as refrigerators, geysers and washing machines to carry advisory notes encouraging consumers to use energy as efficiently as possible.
