Uganda: 4 Eye Nebbi Bishop Seat

Kampala — Four clerics have been nominated for election as bishop of Nebbi Anglican diocese, reports Frank Mugabi.

They include Felix Anecho Okello, the dean of Goli Cathedral, and Santos Ongei-Giu, the chaplain of Uringi Secondary School. Others are Nebbi parish priest Kefa Athowan, and Alfonse Wathokudi, the principal of Udende Vocational Centre.

A highly placed source said these names would be forwarded to the diocesan synod slated for September 12.

"We believe the new bishop will be known by September 27 since the consecration is scheduled for December 21," the source said.

The post fell vacant after Bishop Henry Luke Orombi was elected archbishop of the Church of Uganda in July.
