Uganda: 'Cholera Spreading Rapidly in Kasese'

Kampala — THE director of health services in Kasese, Dr. Peter Okui, has said cholera has killed three more people and infected about 100 others in less than two weeks, reports John Thawite.

Okui said, "The latest information I have is that since this month started, Bwera, Kagando, Rwensande and Kilembe hospitals have registered 10, 30, 04 and about 65 cases respectively."

Talking to The New Vision at his office at Rukoki, he said the biggest problem is insufficient drug supply but his office had set up a cholera treatment centre in Muhokya sub-county.

Speaking at a meeting at Muhokya, a Kilembe hospital official, Agnes Tibuhwa said patients were dying because they reached hospital late.
