The Association of Water Sellers in Gwarinpa on Sunday called off a
two-day strike that subjected residents to a lot of hardship.
The water sellers were not protesting the recent hike in the pump prices
of petroleum products. They were enraged that 36 of their members were
arrested and detained from 8am to 6pm by officers of the Nigeria Police last
Friday, and were released after the police extorted N500 from each of the
members.
