Kampala — The Norwegian International Agency for Development (NORAD) and the European Union signed a joint memorandum to support the National Forestry Authority on Monday.
The joint support is worth Shs 25 billion for the next five years. The Norwegian Ambassador Tore Gjos and EU's Head of Delegation Sigurd Illing signed the memorandum at EU's offices in Kampala.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water, Lands and Environment Eng. Bezalel Kabanda witnessed the signing.
" I am pleased that this partnership has come in place to protect our environment and especially forests," Kabanda said.
The National Forestry Authority was formed early this year to oversee the 1.4 million hectares of forests in 506 central reserves in the country.
