Bauchi — About 2,508 prospective pilgrims from Bauchi State are expected to perform this year's hajji, the State Amiral hajj Alhaji Mohammed Auwal Jatau has said.

Alhaji Jatau, the Amiru-hajj and speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly told our correspondent in Bauchi Monday, that all arrangements have been concluded for the airlifting of the pilgrims and that the Bauchi State government has "put in its boot" regarding their welfares during the pilgrims.

According to him, majority of the pilgrims have arrived Bauchi, the state capital preparatory to their transportation to Kano for subsequent airlifting, which he said would commence tomorrow.

On the perennial logistics problems faced by pilgrims, particularly during airlifting back to the country after the hajj, he said everything has been put in place to avoid problem.

However, he noted that it was natural that logistics problem can not be easily overcome adding, "there are bound to be some lapses" but reiterated that the state government has put in place measures to address the problems.

Also, the Amiru-hajj warned pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the country and Bauchi State while in the Holy land, as he explained that the drag net of the law would always await any person that violates the law.

"We hope to ensure that we have a successful pilgrimage peacefully and timely. And I want all the pilgrims from the state to be law abiding, as ordained by their religion and by their country.

"They're going into a different country other than their own and they should live up to the needs of those country, so that they remain loyal and uplift the image of the country and the entire Muslim Ummah."
