Kampala — UGANDA and Algeria are consulting on the establishment of the African Union (AU)'s anti-terrorism centre.
Visiting Algerian foreign affairs minister (African Affairs) Abdelkader Messahel and state minister (security) Betty Akech said this in a joint press conference in Kampala yesterday.
"Uganda and Algeria share a lot of history. We have similar experience in fighting terrorism. We have similar views on trade and security in Africa. I have a special message for President Museveni. We need Uganda's active participation in the struggle against terrorism," Messahel said.
He said he would lobby President Yoweri Museveni today for Uganda's active participation in the venture.
