Nigeria: Summit Revisits Debate On Abortion in Nigeria

Lagos — The debate on legalising abortion took yet another front burner at the Reproductive Health and Right Summit (RHR), which was held in Abuja, recently. The summit was held under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Health, Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria and other pro-abortion non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Nigeria. The theme of the summit was on how to re-invigorate greater commitment to reproductive health.

From all indications, it appeared that the Minister of Health, Prof. Eyitayo Lambo favoured the promotion of the widespread supply of "modern contraceptives" with adequate stock level in all parts of the country.
