London — More than 75 young people from 12 Commonwealth countries met at Marlborough House in London yesterday (9 March 2004) to debate some of the major challenges affecting member nations and the globe.
Modelled on the biennial Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), the 'Youth CHOGM' provided an opportunity for young people to gain an understanding of the key role they can play in advancing international co-operation and the importance of preparing themselves to play that role in future. For a day the participants, each representing a Commonwealth country, took up the mantle of government and experienced at first hand the challenges of leadership in an increasingly difficult and complex world.
