units, been a pivotal player in two controversial "private military
companies" - and has even starred in a critically acclaimed movie.
In 2002, Simon Mann played the part of a parachute regiment colonel in
the film Bloody Sunday, described by one reviewer as "a visceral,
rocket-fuelled" re-enactment of the notorious 1972 massacre of 13 Northern
Ireland demonstrators by British troops.
