Lagos — NATIONALITY question has caught up with a Nigeria footballer in Germany with his blossoming career already under severe threat.
Former Udoji United and Gabros striker, Ogbonnaya Samuel Ochonma is today stranded in far-away Sweden.
The player, who travelled to Germany a couple of years ago, and has played for two lower division clubs including STC Hoyenraga, was denied family visa to further his stay after his marriage, on the ground that he is not a Nigerian.
The former Stationery Stores star who hails from Arochukwu in Abia State, in an e-mail to SportsChampion, said "I have been playing for them as a Nigerian, but the moment I got married, they turned around to say that I am not a Nigerian, and have refused to grant me family visa to enable me play for a bigger club".
Continuing, he said "they have rejected my passport, sending me to the Nigerian embassy in Sweden to acquire a new one. It took me three months to process it, after which they still denied me family visa, forcing me to stay back in Sweden".
