Bauchi, Bauchi — An Upper Sharia Court in Bauchi has ordered a man, Sabo Sarki to pay N5.7 million to a teenager whose eyes he was said to have plucked.
Delivering judgement, the Judge of the Upper Sharia Court, Mallam Dahiru Abubakar, found the accused guilty in what has now became a celebrated case in Bauchi.
The Sharia Court Judge who noted that the accused has admitted his guilt, and had pleaded for the family of the victim to forgive him.
He therefore called the victim, 13 year old Isa Yayaji and asked him of his view on the plea for forgiveness. The victim however refused to forgive the convict.
The court then passed judgemnet in accordance with section 69 Act 215 of Bauchi State Sharia Court Law 2001.
The convict was ordered to pay his victim either 100 camels or 200 goats or 200 cows or the money equivalent of about N5.7 million.
However the victim and his family who spoke to THISDAY on how they felt about the judgemnet, said all they have wanted was for the convict, Sabo Sarki, to have his eyes removed also.
The convict who looked dejected, pleaded for leniency saying he cannot afford N5.7 million and does not want his eyes removed. He was however given 30 days to appeal against the judgement.
