Lagos — In the wake of the legalisation of same-sex marriages by the state of California, U.S.A., KINGSLEY ONWUKWE warns that the issue could soon re-echo here, given the influence of the West on African culture

There is a long history of 'gay-relationships' in the western world, however, the issue of same-sex or gay marriage, as a legal union has no such place in history. Recent events in the United States of America have inundated the media with a jurisprudential discuss of 'rights' as the civil privilege to live according to your tendencies without inhibitions. The -most forceful being the notion of 'gay marriage' (union actually) advocated as a legal right protected by law in the United States. The advocates claim that the denial of this right violates the non-discrimination policy, under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. This is, to say the least, very disturbing.
