Nigeria: Romania to Assist Nigeria in Wood Industry

Abuja — ROMANIA government is to assist Nigeria in developing the wood industry, its Ambassador, Dr Emit Rapcea, has said.

Speaking during a visit to the Minister of Industry in Abuja, Ambassador Magaji Mohammed, the Romanian envoy said his country would also explore other opportunities provided by the bilateral co-operation in the wood industry.

According to him,it is to expand the Nigeria capacity for wood processing, taking into account the Romania know-how and expertise including the furniture industry.

Other areas of assistance, he said, include assembling Romania trucks and tractors, rehabilitation of refineries and petro-chemicals installation, setting up of cement plants, exploration, extraction, storage and transport of natural gas.

He said Romania would develop and promote new and renewable energy resources such as wind, solar and thermal.

According to him, his country would also encourage Nigerian companies to participate in the manufacturing of electrical equipment and accessories as well as power projects like electricity generation, transmission and distribution, water resources and irrigation.

Responding, the Industry Minister, Ambassador Mohammed, said the existing relationship between Nigeria and Romania will be further strengthened in the areas of industrial fields.
