Lagos — Nigeria international, Isaac Okoronkwo, says he's enjoying his Premiership experience, despite being denied more playing time for most part of the season by Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Okoronkwo, who was heavily criticised for being too sluggish at Tunisia 2004 Nations Cup, said he has overcome initial distractions that caused his being abandoned on the bench by Coach David Jones, adding that he hopes for a better future with the embattled English side.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk defender is relishing his stay with Wolves, despite the fact that the team has already been relegated to the Nationwide Division One League, even before the seasons ends.
"It is perfect, all the big cities are around.
Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool are close. "It is good here because it is quiet, nothing can distract you," he said.
Speaking on his traumatic days on Wolves bench, the Nigerian international, recalled that it was a bad experience for his career, stressing that he never expected it will turn out that way.
"I did not think it would happen like that. But that is football. Obviously, it was disappointing, but I'm happy playing now," he said.
The former Iwuayanwu Nationale defender who has featured in Wolves' last six matches, however, commended his coach, for helping the team remain focused in spite of their predicament. "It's something that Jones is working on. He is trying to keep everyone on their toes," he added.
Meanwhile, Okoronkwo's loan contract ends in the summer and giving his sudden surge in form, he may likely be offered an extension.
