Luanda — The Angolan News Agency (ANGOP) and its Congolese counterpart (ACP), have signed on Saturday, in Luanda, a cooperation protocol which will privilege the staff training and direct flow of news, without passing through the network of the world's biggest agencies.
The accord was signed by the officials of the two agencies, namely Manuel Miguel de Carvalho "Wadijimbi", ANGOP's director-general, and Laurent Massini Ntambu, the Head of the Congolese agency.
To Wadijimbi, this agreement marks an important moment of ANGOP's life, because it comes after the transformation of AZAP, the former agency of the then Zaire, into the DR Congo's press (ACP).
"We have just signed an accord for the relaunching of the cooperation in order to enable a greater exchange of experience between the journalists of both agencies, the same way that we also intend the technological development of our agencies", highlighted the director of Angola's single news agency.
According to Miguel de Carvalho, this initiative implies a new moment for the two African countries that share a long common border, reason why the two organs should work together to contribute in the nearing of the two peoples.
Until now, ANGOP has cooperation accords with its counterparts of France, Portugal, Spain, Cuba, China, England, Morocco, Algeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Cape Verde, Congo Brazzaville, Mozambique, amongst others.
