Ethiopia: Euro Film 2004 Brings Europe's Film Culture to Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa — Euro Film 2004 is the fourth contemporary European Film Festival of its kind in Addis Ababa.

This year's European Film Festival celebrates the expansion of the European Union with the accession of ten new member states, making a total of 25 states in the Union. Euro Film 2004, organised under Ireland's Presidency of the European Union Council of Ministers, provides a showcase for contemporary European film-making.

The new member states of the European Union and the candidate countries bring with them some of Europe's most reputable film producers and directors.

They, alongside other European film-makers, are meeting the competitive challenges of the film industry around the world.

Euro Film 2004 will provide film-goers with a menu of 23 films from 16 countries running form June 5th to June 18th at the auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute.

The success of the European Union has depended on Europeans learning to value the diversity of Europe's cultures. in this spirit, we hope the diversity of film-making showcased in Euro Film 2004 will surprise and entertain audiences in Addis Ababa.
