Cameroon: French Military Experts Awarded Medals

Senior military officials from France recently came to the end of their mission.

About 15 senior French officials peace-corps were decorated for their outstanding performance during their stay in the country. The ceremony in their honour which was chaired by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Laurent Esso, was aimed at compensating them for their miritious services during their three-year mission in Cameroon.

They include: Colonel Roling Guy, Lieutenant Colonels, Giorda Jean-Pascal and Chivot Jean-Luc, Captains, Cossard Frank and Rigaud Alain, Major, Merillac Patrice.

Addressing the audience, the French Colonel attached to the Ministry of Defence, Arnauld de Viviès, thanked the President of the Republic for awarding honorific medals to the foreign military staff, and for giving an opportunity to some French officials to collaborate with the Cameroonian army. "They have acquired much experience to take home for more efficiency in the army unity to which they belong", he explained. He said the French experts have contributed in strengthening the Cameroonian arm force by bringing in their expertise in various domains. "They helped in the reorganisation of the Cameroonian army, rendering it stronger".

Minister Delegate, Laurent Esso, lauded the efforts of the French military experts as they worked hand in gloves with the Cameroonian military. He said, it has become a tradition to reward the French military experts at the end of their mission. "The President of the Republic has manifested his gratitude for the job done, by giving them the honorific medals in appreciation", he explained.

The event took place in the presence of the French Ambassador, Jean-François Valette, the Secretary of State for Defence in charge of the Gendarmerie, Remy Ze Meka and other military officials both French and Cameroonians. This, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Gendarmerie said, is a sign of satisfaction both from the Cameroon government and the entire country. " It is a proof of the good relation between France and Cameroon", he said.
