South Africa: Economy is Top Priority for New US Ambassador to South Africa

Washington, DC — In South Africa, "the next phase from the democratic transition has to be the concrete benefits of a democracy, such as food on the table, jobs, economic growth and development. These are my key priorities," says newly appointed U.S. envoy Dr. Jendayi Frazer.

Armed with a speech outlining a strategy to bolster the South African economy, Ambassador Frazer spoke at a July 7 reception sponsored by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) and GoodWorks International to honor her appointment as U.S. ambassador to Pretoria. Among the many distinguished guests in attendance was GoodWorks' chairman, former congressman and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Andrew Young.
