Lubango, 7/27 - About 140.000 citizens at Matala municipality, 180 kilometres of Lubango city, southern Huila province, will be immunised against meningitis in the first fortnight of August, in the ambit of an emergency campaign organised by Huila Health Department, due to the outbreak of the disease in the region.
Speaking to ANGOP, today, from Lubango city, the chief of the department for Public Health and Diseases Control, Mateus Casselala, added that in the first half of this year, the disease has already provoked 12 deaths out of the 70 cases diagnosed.
For the campaign, the local Health Delegation has as objective to immunise about 90.000 children below 15 years old and an undisclosed number of adults.
