Bailundo — Ate least 82 new cases of tuberculosis were recorded between January and July 2004, at Bailundo district, some 98 kilometres of Huambo city, in central Angola.
This has been announced by a health source that added the prevalence of the disease in the region is worrying.
The source said the patients interned at Bailundo hospital are 20 children from five villages of the inland region, explaining that the situation is due to people's poor nourishing, especially among those who returned to their areas of origin recently.
At Bailundo, over 33.000 people who lived as war displaced have returned to their areas of origin, facing difficulties in the acquisition of adequate food and other essential goods.
