Nigeria: Agencies Benefit From Domain Name Administration

Abuja — A total of 81 government agencies and 150 private organisations have signed up on Nigeria's recently acquired domain name, "dot ng" (.ng).

This was disclosed by the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Professor Gabriel Ajayi. He attributed this development to the present Administration's determination to provide online services.

Ajayi also noted that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has set up a committee with public and private sector participants to harmonise all information technology projects in the country.

Earlier in June President Obasanjo had directed that the NITDA take over the administration of Nigeria's cyberspace identity - the "dot ng" domain name.
