South Africa: Philip Morris Pushes for Larger Share of SA Smoke

Johannesburg — IT takes someone who is either brave or stupid to enter SA's tobacco industry and face onerous legislation, not to mention a near-monopolistic competitor.

But Philip Morris, owner of the world's Number one cigarette brand, Marlboro, recently set up shop here and expects to increase its share of the 23 billion cigarettes consumed every year by the 5 million smokers in SA.
