Entebbe — The leader of the Swaminarayan faith, an Indian Hindu sect, His Supreme Divine Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, 84, arrived in the country yesterday. He arrived at Entebbe at 11 a.m. dressed in orange loincloth and headgear.
Several followers bowed and kissed his feet. Mr Danny Ssozi the Deputy Ugandan High Commissioner to India received him on behalf of the government.
He was later driven to the Swaminarayan temple in Kampala where he led prayers and blessed the people. During the prayers, he hailed the Uganda government for implementing a conducive programme, which enabled the Asian community to repossess their properties that had been confiscated during the Idi Amin regime.
