Johannesburg — TRAINER Stuart Pettigrew has his stable on a roll and he will be looking to Arctic Game to finally deliver the goods in today's eighth race at the Vaal.
Arctic Game's form line shows three seconds in her last three outings so a visit to the number one box is overdue.
A runner who could spoil the party for Pettigrew is Charles Laird's representative, Narrate, who won her debut race at Clairwood Park in good style.
Jockey MJ Odendaal, now leading the riders log, will be in the irons on Narrate, who has plenty of scope for improvement, having raced only twice.
Weichong Mawing's mount, Winter Fancy, also comes into the reckoning following a maiden victory at Turffontein, while Winter Bird could also take a hand in the finish.
Although Cape trainer Justin Snaith has edged ahead of Paul Matchett in the trainers table, the former Zimbabwean trainer will be expecting to capture today's fifth race as he saddles three runners in this 1300m handicap.
Keep The Gold, Ultra Hall and Gallivanter are the Matchett trio and preference is for the latter, who may have made his move too early when unplaced at Turffontein last time out. Stable mate Ultra Hall should not be far away following thirds at Turffontein and today's track, and the gelding is another promising ride for Rene Bonham.
Another Matchett runner, Ripley, is bidding to complete a hat-trick when he takes on 11 rivals in the sixth race, and he looks sure to go close with Rhys van Wyk, again taking the ride.
