Gambia: Linguere FC Reaches Second Successive Final

Banjul — The Bakau New Town giants, Linguere FC have reached their second league final in a row after beating Bantang Koto FC last Saturday in the first semi-final of the 2004 Bakau Zonal Nawettan.

Linguere, who are the league defending champions and the Super Cup winners, came in last Saturday with a high spirit of motivation.

They contained the Bakau giants, Bantang Koto with a one-nil (1 - 0) victory grapping their second final in the row in Bakau. In the second semi-final on Sunday Jazz FC made to the final by beating Ron Mango 2 - 0. The final between Linguere FC and Jazz is described as the best final Bakau nawettan would witness on Sunday, October 10th, 2004.

Meanwhile, the knockout champions in Bakau are also on progress and have now reached the quarter-finals stage. Eight teams came out from the second round encounters. They are Zebra, Linguere, Vidar FC, Seaview, Ron Mango, Saul Samba, Julangel and House of Welding.

In the first quarter finals on Thursday Zebra played Seaview, today Friday Ron Mango will take on Linguere. On Saturday Saul Samba will try to defend their season against Vidar FC and on Sunday Julangel will play House of Welding.

Meanwhile, the knockout semi-finals will be played on the 6 and 7 October 2004 and will feature the winner between Zebra and Seaview against the winner between Saul Samba and Vidar FC.

The second semi-final will be between the winner of Ron Mango, Linguere against the winner between Julangel and House of Welding.
