Kampala — Namirembe Bitamazire, the minister for Primary Education, has advised women to fight for their rights if they want to have successful families. Bitamazire was recently discussing a topic: 'Women and HIV/AIDS' in Kiboga District.
She said most marriages were failing because women did not respect their husbands. She asked women to use their rights to help them lead respectable lives.
She asked women to educate their daughters to ensure development in the family. She also urged men to love their wives unconditionally and warned them to avoid drinking in the morning as this is the major cause of poverty in their homes.
State minister for defence Ruth Nankabirwa asked women to sensitise their children about HIV/AIDS. She also said women's empowerment was meaningless without financial boosting.
