Nigeria: An Evening for Wines

Lagos — The brand marketing and development company, Rosemount Gardens Limited, will hold a wine tasting evening at the Federal Palace Hotel Gardens next Thursday.

The event, being organised in conjunction with Business Resources & Commodities Ltd, Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Ikeja, and Federal Palace Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos, is an opportunity for Rose-mount Gardens Limited to introduce new brands of wines to the Nigerian market.

As part of activities to bring new wine brands to the attention of connoisseurs, resellers and top hotels, who offer the best of choice wines, the company has organised wine tasting evenings for the past three years. The success of the past editions has attracted a number of participants for this year's edition, including The Hardy Wine Company, Business Resources and Commo-dities Ltd, Brain Munro Ltd and GDN Nigeria Limited, all top importers of wines and champagnes from various countries for the Nigerian market.

The Hardy Wine Company is 150 years old with headquarters in Adelaide, South Australia. One of the largest winemakers in Australia, the company exports to 50 countries worldwide. Hardy has won worldwide recognition for its wines. Its Nottage Hill range was voted the best value wine in the UK last year by the UK Wine Council. The company will be introducing the Wolf Blaff Yellow Label series at the fair.

Business Resources and Commodities Ltd imports a range of South African wines from the Simonsvlei winery in Paarl, which is presently one of the top selling South African brands in the country. The Simonsvlei range is House wine at the Sofitel Hotel in Lagos and was for two years, the House wine at the Abuja Sheraton. The company also imports wines from the House of Gandia in Spain, which is presently the House wine at the Abuja Sheraton. This year, the company brings the French wine Jean Grandet Cuvee Prestige to the fair.

Brian Munro Limited, which has been operating in Nigeria for over 40 years represents world-renowned companies and products, including Jonnie Walker, Gordon's Gin, Bailey's Irish Cream, and Campari, among others. GDN Nige-ria Limited is the representative of Agence Netter, which is a company that works with international brand names and large industrial groups, some of the partnerships dating back more than 75 years. Agence Netter has partners in 14 African countries and carries the brands Moet et Chandon, and Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin champagnes, the popular Mouton Cadet wine, Chivas Regal Whisky and a host of other household brands.
