Monrovia — A high-power USA delegation of the United Christian Assembly Church (UCAC) on Sunday, provided hot meals to more than 500 Liberian children in Monrovia, as well as some 300 inmates at the Monrovia Central Prison.
The UCAC humanitarian gesture to the war-weary children took place at the St. Teresa's Pastoral Retreat Center on Randall Street, Monrovia.
Speaking to reporters in the hall where the children were fed, the coordinator of the UCAC's Children Program, Sister Connie Little said, the exercise was the church's way of identifying with the war-weary children of Liberia.
Sis. Little noted that children are peculiar and are precious gifts from God and therefore, must be cherished by adults who shall also take the initiative in providing their physical and spiritual needs.
The UCAC-USA delegation also extended their gesture to some 300 inmates at the Monrovia Central Prison who welcomed the UCAC's goodwill gesture and called on others to emulate same.
For their part, the children expressed happiness for receiving the food and thanked Sis. Little and the entire UCAC-USA delegation for their concern about the plight of the Liberian children.
Meanwhile, the 5-day crusade of the UCAC will close today at the Sports Commission on Broad Street.
