The Chairman of the National Transitional Government of Liberia (NTGL), Charles Gyude Bryant, last Saturday visited the Monrovia Central Orison to tender a luncheon in honor of the inmates at the prison.
During the luncheon, Chairman Bryant said critically spoke against the melting of inhumane treatment to the inmates.
He said those who were taken to the prison are humans and should therefore be treated as such.
He said the reason for imprisonment of individuals was not top accord them inhumanity, but to try to change them from the situation and way of life that took them to the prison.
Chairman Bryant said they would be corrected from the old way of life and would adopt a new lifestyle that would make them productive citizens and residents.
The transitional Chief Executive then praised the Justice Ministry Staff that are manning the prison and hope that programs were being put into place that will change the lives of the prisoners by the time they regain freedom.
The Minister of Justice, Kabineh Ja'neh who also attended the luncheon for the prisons praised Chairman Bryant fro the concern he exhibited by visiting the inmates.
Minister Ja'neh also lauded Chairman Bryant for providing resources that were used to make the luncheo0n for the inmates possible, and for the renovation of the Monrovia Central, which he said was in a bad condition a few months ago.
"When rain fell, it fell on the inmates; this has caused them to always be sick," he said.
