Nairobi — In honour of this year's International Day of the Disabled scheduled for December 3, 2004, the Church in Kenya will launch a video entitled Disability is not Inability.
The producers, Ukweli Video Productions of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, will launch the video at St Paul's Chapel on Thursday, December 2, 2004, starting 6:00 pm local time.
The video tells a story around 32-year old Anthony Muriithi, crippled by polio at an early age, but who has shown that disability is not a barrier to achievement.
"Disability is not Inability is the motto behind the whole motivation and drive of paraplegic Anthony Muriithi," Ukweli told CISA in a statement. . . Though severely crippled since the age of two, he left no stone untouched to accept his disability and lead a very normal life."
"He is a graduate from the University of Nairobi, and holds a degree in sociology and economics," Fr Richard Quinn MM, Director of Ukweli, told CISA.
Muriithi was born in Embu in eastern Kenya in 1972. He is based at St Paul's Chapel, hence the choice of venue.
In a separate function on Sunday, December 5, 2004, Ukweli will launch another video, 100 Years in the Light of Christ, which "traces the history of the Holy Family Minor Basilica from 1904 to 2004. . .from the early spirit of the Holy Ghost Missionaries to their successors in current times."
