Kampala — Uganda has the largest number of elected persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the world, President Yoweri Museveni has said.
"It is believed that Uganda is the first country to have elected MPs representing persons with disabilities. There are 56,000 representatives sitting in directly elected bodies," the president said.
He said this in a speech read by state minister for disability and the elderly Florence Naiga Sekabira at national celebrations to mark the International Day for the disabled at the Rwenzori Square in Kasese town on Friday.
Museveni criticised employers who deny PWDs jobs.
