Angola: First Lady Reaffirms Support to Fight Aids

Luanda — The Angolan First Lady, Ana Paula dos Santos, reaffirmed today her total support and personal involvement in the fight against aids in the country, underlining that every citizen should participate in this process as educator or activist to fight the disease.

Mrs dos Santos expressed her positioning while presiding over the opening act of a fair meant to promote products and services of fight against HIV/Aids, denominated SENASIDA Aids Week, promoted by the Angolan Network of Aids Service Organisations (ANASO), in the ambit of the World Aids Day, marked on December 1st. To the first Lady, this pandemic cannot be seen only as a health problem, but as a phenomenon that also hinders the development of a country, having into account its social and economic complexity and the serious demographic impact.

The first lady added that this meeting is an opportunity to reflect on what is being done and what has been the participation of each citizen and institution in the contribution of a national answer regarding to the HIV/Aids problem.

At the opening ceremony of SENASIDA were present the Education Minister, Antonio Burity da Silva, the Vice-Minister of Youth and Sport, Albino da Conceição, the president of the country's main opposition Unita party, Isaias Samakuva, diplomats, students, among other individualities.
