Uganda: Table Tennis Open Starts

Kampala — THE race for the Uganda table tennis Open honours starts today with matches in all nine events.

Action will run for three days at the Sylvia Table Tennis Action Centre (Syttac) in Lugogo.

Uganda's biggest table tennis show, has competitors in the men's singles, women's singles, teams events for men and women.

The tournament also has awards for the U-17 boy's and U-17 girl's singles, veterans and cadet boy's and girl's events.

Veteran player George Yiga is the man to beat. He is looking to retain the men's singles crown he won last year.

Yiga comes up against many talented rivals including Jackson Migadde, Jude Mutete and Henry Wahaha.

In the ladies events, the players to watch include Amina Lukaya, Lindah Nalubanga, Shabira Mugerwa, Margaret Nakitto.

The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) season ender is sponsored by Sekanyolya Systems with National Council of Sports providing logistical support.
