Uganda: Stanbic Bank Donates 10 Computers to Prisons

Kampala — Stanbic Bank Limited has donated 10 computers to Uganda Prisons Service to help them in record keeping.

Handing over the computers in Kampala yesterday, the country Sales Manager, Mr Paul Omara, said Uganda Prisons was doing most of its work manually.

"We are glad to donate to Prisons these equipment. This body, we discovered, was working under manpower constraints hence driving to risks on safety and accuracy of the services. We hope services will be improved by these machines by the fact that they not only perform the work systematically but also quickly and accurately," Omara said. He pledged continued support to communities in areas of need.

Omara called upon the private sector and civil society organisations (CSOs) to help the Prisons. The Deputy Commissioner of Prisons, Dr Johnson Byabashaija, commended Stanbic and said the machines would transform their services. "We have been in need of these machines like any other organisation would in this technological era. Since we have got them, they will help us in keeping records," he said.
