Lagos — FORMER Super Eagles forward, Daniel "the Bull" Amokachi says his decision to play in the domestic league is to prove a point.
According to the former Everton of England star, "I want to use the league to re-launch my career, to prove that I am still the Amokachi Nigerians know".
The coach/player with Nasarawa United said however that his return to the league was not in any way influenced by Rashidi Yekini's return a couple of seasons ago.
"I have not in anyway been influenced by Rashidi Yekini who returned to the local league a couple of seasons ago after retirement. My decision to return is entirely mine," the Bull said.
"But more importantly, I feel that the younger players still have a lot to learn from me as both coach and player," he added.
Amokachi was a delight to watch in a pre-season match between Nasarawa United and Sharks of Port Harcourt. His striking precision, vision and tailor-made passes made football faithful at the Nasarawa Stadium nostalgic.
The ex-Super Eagles captain is expected to inspire Nasarawa's attack in their first league match against 3SC of Ibadan at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, this weekend.
