Harare — ARMY side Black Rhinos go to the polls tomorrow at One Commando to fill some posts within their executive committee as well as hold a belated awards ceremony for their players.
Club vice-chairperson Irene Mahlanze, popularly known as Amai Karima in football circles, is fighting against acting treasurer Chris Chitindi in a bid to retain her post.
There was confusion earlier this week when Motor Action chief of protocol Simeon Jamanda claimed that Mahlanze had defected to the Mighty Bulls.
Jamanda said Mahlanze had been co-opted into the Mighty Bulls executive as a committee member responsible for players' welfare.
"We have made yet another big acquisition this season. It is not only players that we have been busy recruiting but we have now got Amai Karima into our executive," said Jamanda on Tuesday.
Mahlanze, however, reserved her comments.
"I'm reserving my comment on this," she said.
Rhinos spokesperson Lee Gwasira said they heard that Mahlanze had joined Motor Action but nothing had been confirmed.
"She was nominated for the post of vice-chairperson and is standing as far as we are concerned.
"There is a rumour that she has joined Motor Action but there is an election where she is standing," said Gwasira.
Former team manager Roy Svuvanapasi is unopposed for treasurer's post which became vacant after Shacky Mashiri resigned last season.
Mike Chipoyi is also the sole nominee for the secretary's post previously held by Elliot Piki, who quit last season.
Gwasira said only paid up Rhinos members who joined before 2003 would be eligible to vote.
"We have 163 paid up members to vote," he said.
Chairman Elliot Kasu still has another year to run on the mandate given to him to be in charge of the Premiership club.
After the elections the club will hold a belated players' awards at which Nicholas Gora will walk away with $3,3 million after he emerged as the top goal-scorer with 12 goals.
The Player of the Year will get $5 million, the Promising Player of the Year will receive $1,5 million and the Most Disciplined Player will walk away $2 million richer.
