Lagos — Repair of the damaged muti-million dollar velodrome at the national stadium Abuja can only commence in October this year, Senate report has confirmed.
The velodrome was reportedly destroyed by wind in October 8, during the last All African Games in Abuja.
Preliminary report of the Senate Committee on sports investigating the circumstances surrounding the destruction made available to SportsChampion stated among other things that repair work on the damaged facility will start in October this year.
The prospect manager (Julius Berger) Mr. Lubaseh has quoted in the report to have told the committee that repair work on the damaged Velodrome can only start in the last quarter of the year when the rain must have stopped.
He however said that reconstruction of the facility would be agreement between the company and the ministry of Sports and Social Development.
According to him works on the facility has to be done "under silent weather" to ensure good work.
