Ethiopia: Indian Companies Look to Tap Ethiopian Market

Staff Reporter

18 February 2005

Addis Ababa — In a bid to penetrate the Ethiopian market, an Indian delegation of four export companies Wednesday held discussions with their Ethiopian counterparts.

The delegation was sponsored by the Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL). The delegation consists of companies involved in producing basic organic and inorganic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, dyes, pesticides, soaps, detergents, cosmetics, toiletries and other products like incense sticks, essential oils, medicinal herbs, value added herbal products and the like.

Some of the Ethiopian companies that were interested in doing business with these Indian companies said that this was a good thing as all the above mentioned items are easy to sell in the Ethiopian market.
