Yenagoa. — Nigeria's premier refinery, Tonwei Oil Refinery, located at Agge, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, will soon mobilise to site. Its Chairman/Chief Executive officer Prince Timinepre George Tongubor said at an inaugural meeting with pioneer staff of the company in Yenagoa.
Tongubor also said safety of workers at the refinery site would be a priority.
He said "extra safeguard of all workers against dangers from work place hazards such as fire and other industrial accidents would be given priority attention during the contraction work at the site.
Tongubor, represented by Engineering and Human Resource Development, Engineer Daddy Z.Agohy said the refinery will provide standard workman compensation insurance scheme for all staff.
He enjoined the pioneer management team and staff of to ensure that maximum and qualitative services are rendered for high productivity at all levels.
According to him, "it is expected that the management team apply the pursuit of teamwork at all levels. As pioneer staff, your goal is to ensure human resource management of highly motivated skilled and dedicated workforce, complimented with an equally effective formal and in-house training and retraining schemes with an attractive compensation policy", he said.
According to Prince him, the Tonwwei Group of Companies will assume what he called " a broad base communal, humanitarian and corporate social responsibilities as a people oriented group, with a view to attracting more investments to the host communities and the Niger Delta region.
He said with such underlying and overwhelming policy objectives of shareholders and other stakeholders, the corporate and social responsibilities must be secured at the lowest possible cost while the business procurement and contractual obligation must be at the most optimal choice cost.
He said "time is no longer on our side, we shall very soon get started with activities."
Tongubor announced some management's positions at the inaugural meeting and used the occasion to thank all those that had contributed one way or the other to the project.
