Rwanda: Witness Murdered

Gikongoro — Intimidation of Gacaca witnesses continues unabated around Kaduha district.

Unidentified Gacaca witness was this week slain by unknown assailants. It is said the killers broke into his house at night and smashed the victim's head with a hoe.

The governor of Gikongoro province, Theodore Simburudari, said investigations are underway to find the killers, and urged Kaduha residents to help the police.

"It is very shameful that after ten years, some people still have the genocide ideology in their minds," said Simburudari. "This country cannot develop when we still have such elements," he added.
