Rwanda: Government Augments Forest Guards

Kigali — The Ministry of Lands, Environment and Natural Resources has recruited more forest guards to increase on the number of forest guards in the whole country.

According to the head of ministry's policy making department, Jean Pierre Rudatinya, the number has shot from 82 to 150, adding that this was still low compared to the ministry's needs.

The number of guards was augmented after the government realized that many people still violated the recently passed law to curb the logging down of trees before they mature.
