Uganda: Scandinavia Sponsors Shuttlers

Scandinavian Bus Service has donated seven return tickets to the national badminton team to enable them travel to Mombasa for the Kenya International Badminton Championship.

The sponsorship worth Shs 1 million also consists of 14 shirts.

The event runs from April 21-25. It is also an awarding points event to rank African countries.

The team consisting of 12 players leaves next week on April 20 to join the national coach Mr Simon Mugabi who travels today to attend a coaching course. The company's country manager, Mr Muhammad Faisal said that the gesture was to show the company's willingness to support sports development.

The tickets were handed over to the treasurer, Uganda Badminton Association Mr David Mayeko at Kampala Club yesterday.

The team includes veteran shuttler and Monitor scribe Andrew Oryada.
